Rhodah: Hi,Please introduce yourself and tell us what is your definition of fashion?

Reece:    Hi, my name is Reece.I am a fashion expert and i ventured in fashion industry in the 2008. I think fashion is the popular and the tending way of dressing. It is seasonal because it comes and goes and sometimes and sometimes it goes back to the old ways but all the same it remains to be seasonal. People will take fashion to be entirely a different thing from what it really is. for instance, ladies tend to think nudity is fashion and men think that ragging and sagging of pants is fashion which is totally not true. We forget that we are Africans and that we should embrace the African wear and embrace it to our own liking because after all fashion is about being unique and amazing in your own way.Be simple, classy and blend it with your environment, and I can simply say that is being fashionable. Thank you.

It is so disappointing that most people have abandoned our African culture due to the Western culture influence. Most of us have forgotten the beauty in of our African wear because they want to look like western people.The ironic part is that very few western people will go for the African wear.

Talking of African wear, doesn’t mean it’s all about clothes. It also includes shoes, handbags, jewellery among others. For example we can have saddles, wallets and belts made by the Maasai. Some  of us may think being in African wear is old fashioned, but this is not the case.This is because, taking the Kitenge wear as an example, designers today have come up with various designs which look classy. Some can design them in many ways that they can come up both official and casual looks.

Talking of jewellery, we consider the beads necklaces, earrings and others. Afican is classy, fashionable and affordable. Let us not forget this beauty in our culture. Let us appreciate and be proud of our culture, and above all promote our fellow Africans. My culture, My pride. Let’s keep it African.
